First Week of the WUX Group Project

Here's a rundown of the first week of Team Ludo's group project for the Yoobee WUX S3 App Design module.

This rundown covers the 21st of July (Thursday) to the 27th of July (Wednesday).

21st July

  • Richard and Beste team up, forming what will be called Team Ludo.

22nd July

  • Our project is decided; we will build a niche market app focusing on board games.
  • This includes card games, but not board game supplies such as dice or miniatures.
  • This application will allow users to buy and sell board games on the platform, as well as view information on these board games and filter according to different criteria.

23rd July - Saturday

  • Beste created a GitHub repository and invited me to it.

24th July - Sunday

  • Nothing to report for this day -

25th July

  • Anjileen joins the team and is invited to the GitHub repository.
  • Anjileen creates both a Discord chat for communication as well as a Trello board to list tasks to be completed.
  • Miguel, the lecturer, creates a Google Doc for students to list who belongs to / is working with which team.
  • I add myself, Beste and Anjileen to Group 1.
  • Miguel creates a Microsoft Teams chat for us to use.

26th July

  • Survey sent out to fellow students asking for examples of board games - these will be used to populate our application later on, in the build phase - done by me.
  • Team Ludo (Latin for 'I play'') is decided as the team name.

27th July - Today

  • At this stage, roles within the group are still to be decided as well as what tools will be used to communicate.
  • Currently we are using Discord to communicate, with the intention of adding Miguel to the chat after the project build is complete to show evidence of collaboration.
  • We are undecided as to whether we will switch to using MS Teams to communicate - I will double check with Miguel.
  • We are using Trello to list tasks and assign responsibilities.
  • Right now, I am responsible for defining the requirements of the application, defining stakeholders, performing competitor research, and constructing personas.
  • These initial tasks, as well as those of my teammates, have been set a due date of Friday the 29th.
  • At this stage
  • This gives us time to review over the weekend, and come back fresh on Monday after a relaxing weekend! :)

Summary

  • Team Ludo consists of:
    • Myself, Richard Roach
    • Beste Sevinc
    • Anjileen Daji
  • We are focusing on building an application focusing on a niche market, board games.
  • We have yet to select an Agile methodology or what roles we will have within the team.
  • At the moment, it seems everyone has a generalized skillset, with a desire to learn new skills.
